Crabby Media: forum
updated: 2008/8/19
Here is the forum. If you have any problems or questions, please write to the lead admin: forum@crabbymedia.org.
Guests can read much of the forum. Only members may post.
Before joining, it may be useful to read this announcement in the forum so that you know what the steps are and how long they may take: how registration works
Everyone is asked to agree to our forum "user agreement" (the term foisted on us by the forum software), which we're also publishing here in case you disagree with them and don't want to waste your time applying to view the board. The "user agreement" contains just basic guidelines for what we expect from all of our members with regards to getting along with everyone on the forum. They're also reiterated on the forum so you can check them there at any time.

> The general rules for this board are as follows:
- Don't be an asshole.
That's about it. Specific guidelines on how not to be an asshole include, but are not limited to:
Don't be sexist, racist, ageist, sizeist, ableist, homophobic -- in short, don't be a bigot. Don't use the words "gay" or "retarded" to mean "stupid" or "something i dislike." Don't be dismissive of mental health issues as something a person should "just get over." Don't use ethnic slurs. Don't use the word "rape" frivolously -- rape means rape, and it's not funny nor is it a casual word.
- Don't spam.
"Don't spam" is really just a sub-set of "don't be an asshole," but it's worth taking a minute to explain what we consider to be "spam" and what the consequences are on this board.
So, obviously: Don't post adverts for penis/breast enlargements; don't post phony URLs that redirect to a compromised website that will install trojans on our computers.
Less obviously: Don't post about your zine/distro/band/what-have-you repeatedly in a short amount of time. We do want to hear about your project; we don't want to be suffocated in propaganda.
Anything that the admins/mods deem to be spam, or even spammy, will, at the least, be reprimanded (if you're just posting too much about your project). It may be deleted (if it's a sleazy ad for cheap V1agra). You and your IP address may be banned (if you're a real jerk and don't stop spamming, or if you argue with us about it).
> How the admins and mods run this place:
- If you start a thread in the wrong section, we will move it.
- If you start a thread that duplicates an existing thread, we will merge them.
- If you post something outrageously stupid, we will not outright delete it, tho' we are remarkably inclined to pointing out that you're being stupid.
- If you post something spammy, we may delete it (as outlined above in the spam section).
